About Us

MTGTactical is a Magic: The Gathering strategy publication focused on one thing: helping players make better decisions during actual games.

There are already plenty of places to find decklists, spoilers, card prices, and tournament results. Those things matter, but they are only part of becoming a better Magic player.

Once the opening hand is drawn, you still have to decide what to keep, what to play first, when to attack, which threat actually matters, when to use interaction, when to wait, and how to adjust when the game stops going according to plan.

That is the part of Magic we focus on.

Better Decisions. Better Magic.

The central idea behind MTGTactical is simple:

Good Magic is decision-making.

A deck can be powerful and still lose because it was piloted poorly. A modest board position can become winning because a player recognized the right line. And two players can use the same seventy-five or hundred cards very differently depending on how well they understand timing, sequencing, resources, and their role in the game.

MTGTactical breaks those decisions down in practical terms.

We are interested in questions like:

  • Should you keep this opening hand?
  • Which land should you play first?
  • Is this the right turn to deploy your threat?
  • Should you attack or hold back?
  • Is that permanent actually worth removing?
  • What should you play around?
  • When should you stop protecting your life total and start using it as a resource?
  • Who is the real threat at a Commander table?
  • When should you change roles from defense to offense?
  • What information has your opponent already given you?

The goal is not to hand players a collection of rigid rules. It is to help them understand why one line is better than another.
